Colosseum admission prices – the official overview
The official admission prices for the Colosseum are set by the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo. Every admission automatically includes access to the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill as well – no separate booking needed. You can book through the official website (available only in English, Italian and Spanish) or through accredited third-party providers.

The official time slots are released in limited allocations and are often sold out weeks in advance in high season. The official website releases them 30 days before the date of the visit. Third-party providers have their own firmly allocated contingents, which is why they often offer availability before the official sale starts and are still bookable when the official website is sold out.

All admissions are personalised – the name of every visitor must be given when booking. Have a valid photo ID ready for all visitors at the entrance. Name changes after booking are not possible.
Which option is the right one?
Depending on your interests and budget there are various ways to visit the Colosseum. The most important difference: standard admission only entitles you to visit levels 1 and 2 – the arena floor and the underground require Full Experience admission or a guided tour.

When is the Colosseum free?
On certain days admission to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill is free for all visitors. These days are part of the national initiative for free museum admission in Italy.
Free admission on these days
On these days admission is only available on site at the box office – no online booking possible. Expect considerably longer waiting times. Access to the arena and the underground is not possible on free-admission days. The Colosseum is closed on 1 January and 25 December.
